Forster Looking Forward To Swinton Challenge

North Wales Crusaders head coach Carl Forster is 'looking forward' to facing Swinton Lions in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup in Colwyn Bay this weekend.

Looking ahead to Sunday's clash, Forster said: "We are just looking forward to be putting pre-season behind us now and obviously getting into competitive games.

"Pre-season seems like a long time as you're looking ahead to these games.

"There's excitement amongst the group, and we are going into the game with pretty much nothing to lose."

Swinton Lions' last hit out was there pre-season friendly game against St Helens, where the Lions were victorious 28-18.

Touching on Sunday's opponents, Forster, who attended the Lions' game, commented: "Yeah they (Swinton) were impressive, they've signed some big players this year, in terms of Dec Patton in the halves, George Roby at nine and Josh Eaves; they've got a really good spine and they play some really good rugby.

"It will be a really good challenge for us."

Asked how North Wales Crusaders would counter the Swinton threat, Forster said: "We've got to see how they attack and we've done a bit of video from the Saints game and seen how the young Saints got it right but how they got it wrong as well.

"They will have a game plan to how we defend and how we attack, it's probably too early in the season to over think what teams have done in pre-season.

"These are the games you go and find out more about yourself rather than the opposition, we've just got to hope that we perform to a level that will hopefully make it a competitive match."

Forster added: "It's probably near enough the strongest 17 we've got, the fact we have a big squad, it was a bit of a headache picking the team at training on Thursday night, and delivering the news to the players who will miss out it's never easy.

"We are making sure we are in a better position this year than we were this time last season.

"We are just looking forward to getting out there and getting back to playing games every Sunday."
